Bombardier is seeking a Section Leader, Experimental, Electrical Engineering to lead a team performing critical engineering to support aircraft testing, development, certification, and fleet support objectives. In this role, you will ensure team deliverables meet stringent quality standards, deadlines, and budget constraints.
What You'll Do
- Lead the experimental electrical design team to perform required engineering for testing.
- Ensure team deliverables are produced according to quality standards, on time, and within budget.
- Oversee the design of data acquisition, power, industrial control, and instrumentation systems, as well as the writing of technical requirements and reports.
- Supervise and validate load and power analyses of designs by engineers and technologists.
- Take concrete actions to maintain a safe workplace and act preventively for health, safety, and the environment.
- Work to build an engaging, safe, diverse, and inclusive workplace for all.
- Be accountable for the engineering quality produced by the electrical design team.
- Establish a plan for strategic and technical improvement initiatives and drive continuous improvement.
- Apply Bombardier's operational excellence system and implement actions to eliminate non-value-added work.
- Manage employee performance, set annual operational goals, and provide continuous feedback.
- Provide technical leadership, coaching, mentoring, and training to enable employees to achieve their goals.
- Establish essential team skills, gap analysis, and training plans to optimize flexibility and ensure knowledge transfer.
- Establish annual budgets and quarterly forecasts to assess team workforce needs and plan resource allocation.
- Play a crucial role within Bombardier's Experimental department, contributing to the success of unique and challenging projects.
What We're Looking For
- Experience in test bench engineering, instrumentation, control panel design, and instrumentation assemblies.
- Knowledge of simulation, cockpit components and their functionalities, and knowledge of various aircraft systems, their communication protocols, and data exchange processes.
- Knowledge of Rockwell PLCs, data acquisition, industrial controls, and power distribution of 600V AC or less.
- Familiarity with the CSA C22.2 No.14 standard.
- Open mindset for problem-solving, prioritizing root cause analysis and implementing long-term solutions.
- Comfortable working in a high-volume, fast-paced, rapidly evolving, results-oriented environment.
- Ability to meet ambitious deadlines, work under pressure, and have a sense of urgency.
- Strong leadership skills, judgment, flexibility, and ability to influence others.
- Good communication skills.
- Eligible for registration in Canada's Controlled Goods Program (CGD).
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of aerospace standards SAE AS50881, IPC/WHMA-A-620B, and IPC/EIA J-STD-001C is an asset.
