Aquarion Water Company is seeking a Seasonal Watershed Maintainer to provide key support to our Watershed and Environmental Management Department. You will be responsible for the safe maintenance of our outside properties—including woodlands, dam slopes, and reservoirs—as part of our commitment to environmental stewardship and source protection.
What You'll Do
- Conduct all activities and equipment operation in a safe manner
- Mow grass on dam slopes, pipelines, and roadsides with tractor-mounted implements
- Remove, cut, chip, and/or burn brush and trees
- Remove invasive aquatic plant species by boat
- Assist with operations pertaining to wildlife management
- Plant trees and shrubs
- Pick up and remove litter and rubbish
- Perform snow removal at company facilities
- Construct and maintain forest access roads
- Assist with maintenance of equipment
- Conduct or manage field repairs of equipment when necessary
- Utilize communication tools to keep your supervisor informed of progress and issues
What We're Looking For
- A minimum high school diploma
Nice to Have
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on landscaping or similar field work experience
- Minimum 2 years of heavy equipment operation
- Ability to swim
- An associate or trade school certificate
- Chainsaw Safety Training
- CT Boating Safety Certificate
Technical Stack
- AEBI slope mowing tractor with flail mower and snow blower
- Rubber tire tractors in excess of 45hp
- Tractor implements: flail mowers, offset rotary mower, brush mower, hydraulic boom mower
- Boats and outboard motors: canoes, rowboats, and various sized boats
- Walk-behind mowers: Scag, Billy Goat
- Chainsaws, weed trimmers, and backpack blowers
- Truck-mounted snow plow and sander

- Compensation: $23.00 per hour
Work Mode
This is an onsite seasonal position based at the Aspetuck Environmental Center in Easton.
