The Trustees of Reservations is hiring a Seasonal Art and Nature Camp Instructor

About the Role

Lead engaging, nature-integrated art programs for children at a seasonal outdoor camp, fostering creativity and environmental awareness through structured and unstructured activities.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver art projects that connect with natural themes and seasonal changes
  • Supervise groups of children during daily camp activities
  • Ensure participant safety during indoor and outdoor programming
  • Prepare materials and organize workspaces for art sessions
  • Encourage creative expression while aligning with camp values
  • Support camp routines including transitions and group management
  • Collaborate with co-instructors to maintain consistent programming
  • Adapt activities for varying age groups and abilities
  • Promote inclusivity and positive peer interactions
  • Respond to behavioral challenges with constructive guidance
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of art supplies and areas
  • Communicate regularly with camp leadership about program needs
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions
  • Follow health and safety protocols including hygiene and emergency procedures
  • Engage families during drop-off and pick-up times as needed
  • Model respect for nature and sustainable practices
  • Transport materials between sites when necessary
  • Assist with setup and cleanup of daily activities
  • Contribute to a positive and energetic camp atmosphere
  • Uphold the organization’s mission through daily interactions

Compensation

Hourly, non-exempt position with pay based on experience

Work Arrangement

On-site, seasonal summer position with set weekly schedule

Team

Part of a camp leadership team working directly with children and supporting staff

Camp Schedule

  • Position runs from late June through mid-August with required training prior to start
  • Full-time hours Monday through Friday during camp weeks
  • Some weekends or special events may require attendance

Physical Demands

  • Frequent standing, walking, and active participation outdoors
  • Bending, reaching, and lifting as part of daily activities
  • Working in outdoor environments with exposure to sun, insects, and variable weather
