Boehringer Ingelheim is hiring a Scientist IV to join our viral disease discovery team. In this role, you will conduct avian virology research with a translational focus on developing improved viral poultry vaccines. You will explore polyvalent vector-based strategies to protect against multiple viral infections via a single dose delivered by mass vaccination.
What You'll Do
- Initiate, design, interpret, troubleshoot, and complete routine and complex procedures independently.
- Conduct exploratory experiments and propose, evaluate, and implement new technologies.
- Apply scientific principles, perform literature searches, and keep abreast of developments in the field.
- Communicate and defend your work effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Train technicians and junior scientists, demonstrating a contemporary level of technical proficiency.
- Report and treat data with a high level of integrity and ethics, complying with all regulations.
- Participate in cross-departmental project teams when assigned.
- Ensure laboratory facilities and equipment are well-maintained and that safety protocols and SOPs are followed.
What We're Looking For
- PhD with 2 years of experience; Master's with 6+ years; or Bachelor's with 10+ years in a related scientific discipline.
- A required background in virology and vaccine development.
- Essential experience using sequence analysis software programs.
- Strong background in DNA/RNA amplification, cloning, expression techniques, protein/nucleic acid methods, and microbial cultivation/analysis.
- Familiarity with CVB vaccine development requirements.
- Ability to function effectively in multi-disciplinary teams.
- Ability to create written scientific reports and protocols, with strong verbal communication skills.
- Ability to clearly articulate scientific and operational concepts across functions.
- Must be a highly motivated, dependable, and well-organized individual able to operate with minimal supervision.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction, willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical if required, and be 18 years of age or older.
