Responsibilities
- Resolve a wide range of technical challenges across multiple projects to meet established targets.
- Execute projects according to agreed work plans, selecting optimal methods and techniques for best solutions.
- Provide technical support to projects beyond your direct responsibility.
- Present recommendations and contribute to idea generation within cross-functional teams.
- Generate high-quality technical documentation and reports.
- Contribute to process and procedure improvements.
- Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders on project-related topics.
- Recommend methods and procedures for new or special assignments.
- Develop new procedures and methodologies based on experience and innovative approaches.
- Generate Intellectual Property and promote scientific activities and innovation.

- Represent Hovione at external events, conferences, and industry forums.
- Train staff in specialized subjects related to your expertise.
- Participate in inspections and internal/external audits.

- Ensure all assigned tasks are delivered on time, safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively.

- Gather and analyze relevant data to inform decision-making on complex issues.
- Execute professional activities in compliance with GMP, HSE guidelines, and internal/external requirements.
- Promote and maintain Hovione’s policies, systems, and procedures (COPs, HBR, SOPs, etc.).
- Carry out tasks safely and in compliance with environmental, health & safety regulations.
Requirements
- University degree (or equivalent) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Sciences, Pharmaceutical Technology, Biological Engineering, Biology, or Mechanical Engineering (specific for devices) or similar scientific field (mandatory).
- PhD preferred.
- Typically 3–5 years of relevant experience in Research & Development and/or Operations in the Pharmaceutical Industry, or a Ph.D. in a relevant scientific field.
- Strong understanding of: Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Unit Operations, OR Reaction Engineering, Heat Transfer, Scale-up, Process Safety, and Industrial Operations, OR Drug product unit operations, solids flow phenomena, and process equipment, OR Drug Product formulation, Drug delivery, OR Mechanical Engineering and Fluid Dynamics.
- Knowledge of mathematics, preferably data management, statistics, and first-principles modeling (preferred).
- Fluency in English is required.
- Computer literacy with good working knowledge of MS Office.
- Must have the knowledge, experience, and skills to conduct tasks in accordance with established rules and procedures.
Nice to Have
- Engineering background: Solid foundation in mechanical, biomedical, or related engineering disciplines.
- Modelling expertise: Experience in process modelling, simulation, or computational analysis.
- Injectable product experience: Familiarity with injectable drug development, manufacturing processes, or related technologies.
