The University of Hull is seeking a Scientific Officer Imaging Specialist – Biology to join the Wound Innovation Institute. You will oversee the day-to-day operations of our advanced imaging suite, providing specialist training and knowledge on sample preparation, imaging, and analysis. This role supports a wide portfolio of industry and academic projects.
What You'll Do
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of the Wound Innovation Institute advanced imaging facilities, including state-of-the-art equipment and software.
- Operate and maintain advanced imaging equipment including LSM900 confocal and Blaze light-sheet microscopes, live-cell imaging platforms, and an Axioscan slide scanner.
- Oversee data collection and analysis across different imaging platforms, including developing software pipelines for quantitative evaluation.
- Provide technical support to internal and external users, assisting with data analysis, troubleshooting, and developing solutions.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols, including proper handling of chemicals and waste disposal.
- Contribute to writing SOPs, COSHH and Risk Assessments, updating policies and procedures as directed.
- Oversee the organisation and application of imaging data, and associated databases and records.
- Assist with researching new imaging methods and adapting them for use in the Wound Innovation Institute.
- Ensure the safety and quality of imaging procedures by adhering to protocols, calibration procedures, and quality control measures.
- Interact effectively with University staff and students, external users, and industry partners.
- Plan and deliver practical sessions to undergraduate students and co-supervise project students.
- Carry out research experiments and maintain the day-to-day running of a research laboratory.

Work Mode
This is an onsite position. The primary location is Castle Hill Hospital, with occasional work required at the University of Hull campus.
