KIPP NYC Public Schools is hiring a Science Teacher to join a collaborative team dedicated to student success. In this role, you will plan engaging lessons, analyze academic data to guide instruction, and cultivate a warm, inclusive classroom community grounded in Restorative Practices and Social Emotional Learning.
What You'll Do
- Plan daily lessons and long-term curriculum aligned with KIPP’s academic vision.
- Analyze student data regularly to identify trends and inform teaching practices.
- Maintain a positive, rigorous, and engaging classroom environment using Restorative Practices and Social Emotional Learning.
- Implement culturally responsive classroom management to create a safe space for all students.
- Communicate consistently with staff, students, families, and stakeholders to build strong partnerships.
- Attend and engage in weekly Professional Development and Communities of Practice.
- Update student records, including attendance, grades, and behavior data.
What We're Looking For
- Hold a B.A./B.S. degree from a regionally accredited institution.
- Meet eligibility for a valid teaching credential, Provisional Internship Permit, or Short Term Staff Permit.
- Commitment to KIPP’s mission, vision, and being an anti-racist educator.
- Belief that all students can achieve at the highest academic levels.
- Strong content area knowledge in science.
- Proven skills in building relationships with students, families, and communities.
- Excellent communication skills with students, families, and colleagues.
- Proficient knowledge of Google Suite applications (Classroom, Docs, Sheets, etc.).
- Ability to learn and use instructional technology like Zoom and Nearpod for in-class and distance learning.
Nice to Have
- Teaching experience with student demographics similar to KIPP Northern California communities.
