EdOps is seeking a School Finance Specialist to act as a trusted financial partner for a portfolio of schools. In this role, you will serve as an outsourced accountant and advisor, managing day-to-day operations and providing strategic insights to drive student achievement through operational excellence.
What You'll Do
- Oversee all day-to-day full-cycle accounting and compliance for schools, including accounts payable, payroll, grants administration, and regulatory requirements.
- Close the books monthly, quarterly, and annually, preparing monthly financial statements.
- Project manage schools’ annual fiscal audits, completing year-end statements and schedules, and serve as the primary contact during fieldwork.
- Analyze, model, and solve problems on a wide range of business issues.
- Liaise with state education authorities and charter authorizers as relevant.
- Partner with an EdOps School Finance Manager to deliver high-quality customer service.
- Invest in other team members, supporting their efforts and contributing to internal team growth.
- Own the day-to-day financial and monthly accounting close process for multiple schools.
- Independently manage the annual financial cycle for your portfolio.
What We're Looking For
- Strong organization and time management skills.
- Intermediate Excel knowledge, including formulas like vlookups and sumifs.
- Direct work experience and/or a degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
- Strong quantitative analysis, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to collaborate with people at every organizational level and a desire to help others do their best work.
- Strong client communication and interpersonal skills, capable of presenting information to people with varying financial literacy.
- General comfort with technology systems, such as Google suite and financial software.
- Typically, 5-8 years of work or post-secondary educational experience.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of how schools operate.
- Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Intacct, or Blackbaud.
