Abbott is seeking a Sales Ambassador for its Core Lab Division in Ontario. This field-based role is central to maintaining and expanding our diagnostics business, focusing on account management, customer retention, and value expansion in laboratory environments. You will be responsible for driving profitability and loyalty while ensuring operational excellence for our customers.
What You'll Do
- Operate as the primary account management contact to improve economic profitability and increase customer loyalty.
- Secure customer retention and drive value expansion for Abbott's diagnostics instruments.
- Represent Abbott and the Core Diagnostics brand, with an emphasis on laboratory management.
- Make decisions on reagent utilization and product replacement impacting annual supply budgets.
- Drive the Continuous Improvement Process by utilizing the Business Analytics platform and AlinIQ Solutions.
- Use and contribute to the data integrity of the CRM (Salesforce.com) database daily.
- Monitor and maintain customer satisfaction through direct contact and quarterly business reviews.
- Negotiate Service and Reagent contract extensions and renewals.
- Manage the customer relationship, thoroughly planning, preparing, and following up on customer visits.
- Identify customer training requirements and manage inventory.
- Build Abbott's image and reinforce the total solution value offering.
- Collect Voice of Customer (VOC) and create account-specific strategies.
- Drive menu expansion and value creation based on analysis.
- Manage price, service sales, free-of-charge control, lifecycle management, and contract compliance.
- Support new lab implementations, including site surveys, ordering, and training.
- Attend relevant trade association meetings, conferences, and tradeshows.
- Build customer loyalty and improve Net Promoter Score (NPS).
- Manage inter-client relationships and conduct proactive monitoring via AbbottLink.
- Carry out lunchtime meetings to demonstrate educational materials.
- Drive territory insights and planning by analyzing Power BI Sales Performance Metrics.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor’s degree.
- One to three years working in a laboratory environment performing diagnostics tasks in Chemistry, Pathology, Microbiology, or Blood Bank.
- Three to five years performing sales duties, including calling on Health Care Professionals/Medical Lab Technologists to achieve sales targets.
- Experience with salesforce.com and Power BI.
- Experience interfacing directly with customers.
- Strong people management, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Troubleshooting, problem-solving, and computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to prioritize independently and knowledge of sales techniques and cycles.
- Commitment to listening to and acting on customers’ needs; customer-centric mindset.
- In-depth understanding of the diagnostics laboratory environment, including workflow, equipment maintenance, and quality control.
- Good understanding of the purchasing process in Ontario (Group Purchasing Organizations, government approvals).
- Sales process knowledge and account management experience.
- Understanding of value expansion principles for an installed base.
- Ability to anticipate needs, resolve conflicts, and maintain professionalism.
- Effective oral and written communication skills to build customer rapport.
- Strong time management and task prioritization skills.
- Ability to travel approximately 50% of the time.
Nice to Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Microbiology, Engineering (Biomedical, Electrical, Mechanical), Medical Technology, or a Commercial field.
- Experience providing technical product application and/or hardware support.
