As a Safety Specialist in Field Operations, you will play a key role in advancing safety across European customer locations, with a primary focus on Germany and neighboring countries. You'll spend 50–75% of your time traveling to sites, conducting safety audits, and leading GEMBA walks to observe field activities and identify potential risks.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform regular safety assessments and on-site evaluations to ensure adherence to global safety protocols and drive continuous improvement.
- Coach Field Service Engineers on critical safety practices such as lockout-tagout (LOTO), working at heights, machine guarding, and safe material handling.
- Lead or assist in incident and near-miss investigations, ensuring root causes are identified and corrective actions are completed.
- Develop and maintain risk assessments and standardized safe operating procedures tailored to field service tasks.
- Act as the regional expert for the Velocity EHS system, overseeing accurate and timely reporting of incidents, hazards, inspections, and follow-up actions.
- Engage with German Works Councils on safety initiatives, consultations, and compliance requirements.
- Work closely with both internal teams and customers to meet safety expectations and promote a proactive safety culture.
- Support contractor safety by creating Job Hazard Analyses and ensuring proper documentation is in place.
Qualifications
You bring at least three years of experience in environmental, health, and safety (EHS) within field, service, or multi-location operations. Fluency in both English and German is required. You’re skilled in hazard identification, risk mitigation, and incident investigation, and you’re able to influence teams without direct authority.
Experience in industrial equipment or field service environments is a plus. Familiarity with ISO 45001 or ISO 14001 standards, professional safety certifications (such as NEBOSH or IOSH), or prior work with European Works Councils will strengthen your application. You must be comfortable working independently in a remote setup and willing to travel extensively across Europe.
