Role Overview
Patrol a designated section of interstate highway to identify incidents, stranded vehicles, debris, or roadway hazards. Respond promptly to support motorists and coordinate with emergency personnel as needed. This position plays a key role in maintaining traffic flow, enhancing roadway safety, and delivering reliable field-level support under the guidance of supervisory staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor assigned roadway segments for accidents, obstructions, or conditions that may impact traffic
- Respond to disabled vehicles and provide assistance such as jump-starts, fuel delivery, and minor first aid
- Clear debris and temporary hazards from travel lanes to prevent secondary incidents
- Set up temporary traffic controls to protect emergency responders and scene integrity
- Support reversible lane and high-occupancy vehicle system operations where applicable
- Conduct vehicle inspections before and after shifts and schedule routine maintenance
- Keep patrol vehicles clean, fully stocked, and operationally ready
- Follow all traffic laws and maintain a safe, documented driving history
- Participate in required training and maintain current certifications
- Deliver courteous, professional service to the public during every interaction
- Carry out additional field tasks as directed by management
Qualifications
- Ability to work under direct supervision while performing routine and structured tasks
- Willingness to learn through on-the-job training in safety and traffic response procedures
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

- Consistent demonstration of professionalism, responsiveness, and courtesy when assisting the public
