Town of Ajax is hiring a Rink Attendant

The Town of Ajax is looking for a Rink Attendant to support the daily operations of our community arenas. Reporting to the Arena Operator or Arena Operator Assistant, you are accountable for cleaning and disinfecting facilities, assisting with ice maintenance, and ensuring a positive experience for all patrons.

What You'll Do

• Greet members of the public courteously, respond to inquiries, and direct them appropriately.
• Clean and disinfect dressing rooms and washrooms, replenish supplies, and empty garbage receptacles.
• Supervise patrons during public skating and Youth shinny hockey sessions.
• Sweep and wash stands, lobbies, washrooms, and dressing rooms between games and practices.
• Set up and take down tables and chairs for functions held in community facilities.
• Assist the operator with ice floods as required, including filling the Zamboni and moving nets.
• Perform exterior property maintenance such as litter picking, shoveling snow, snow blowing, and salting.

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 16 years of age or older.
• Current Standard First Aid and CPR C certification.
• Self-motivated, positive, confident, and approachable.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Respectful of diverse opinions and perspectives.
• Committed to quality customer service and innovation.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with mediation and conflict resolution abilities.
• Must be available to work evenings and weekends.
• Able to provide a clear Criminal Reference / Vulnerable Sector check that is current (completed in the last six months) upon being hired.

Nice to Have

• Ability to ice skate is an asset.

Team & Environment

You will report directly to the Arena Operator or Arena Operator Assistant as part of the arena operations team.
