About the Role

University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a Revenue Cycle Representative to join our Patient Access Management Division, specifically supporting the Medical Center on the University Campus (MCU) Emergency Department team. This is an entry-level customer service position where you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional service in a high-volume phone and web-based environment, upholding our Service Excellence standards.

What You'll Do

  • Analyze and verify patient demographic and insurance information for accurate claim submission.
  • Communicate with providers, payers, patients, and internal departments to resolve issues.
  • Go to inpatient floors to complete registrations using workstations on wheels (WOW).
  • Work with the court system to provide time-sensitive documents and ensure compliance.
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy to meet productivity and quality requirements.
  • Identify trends and work processes for potential improvements.
  • Review report data to provide status updates to leadership.
  • Maintain extensive knowledge of payer regulations, financial classifications, and assistance programs.
  • Build and maintain solid working relationships with interdepartmental and clinical staff, insurance companies, and the public.
  • Assist other Patient Access Management areas with departmental needs and cross coverage.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to show compassion and empathy when working directly with patients and their families.

You will join the Patient Access Management (PAM) Division, specifically the Medical Center on the University Campus (MCU) Emergency Department team.

Benefits & Compensation

  • An additional 5% added to base salary for high volume.
  • A $2,970 weekend differential applicable while in this role.

This is an onsite position located at the Medical Center on the University Campus (MCU), 200 Hawkins Drive, Iowa City, IA.
