Google is looking for a Research Scientist to join the Ads Generative AI (GenAI) team. In this role, you will design and run large-scale experiments, deploy innovative ideas, and apply advanced theories to improve our products. You will focus on adapting Gemini models for ads tasks through automated prompt engineering, fine-tuning, and reinforcement learning, while contributing to the broader research community.
What You'll Do
- Author research papers to share and generate impact from research results across the team and in the research community.
- Help grow research business across teams by sharing research trends and best practices.
- Conduct experiments based on research questions, develop research prototypes, and refine methodologies under minimal guidance.
- Work with and post-train Large Language Models (LLMs) for targeting, large-scale retrieval, pseudo-rater, and other Ads applications.
- Collaborate with researchers and engineers across Ads, Search, and Google DeepMind.
What We're Looking For
- PhD degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in one or more areas of Machine Learning, such as large language models, natural language processing, or data processing.
- One or more scientific publication submissions for conferences, journals, or public repositories (such as CVPR, ICCV, NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, etc.).
Nice to Have
- 1 year of experience owning and initiating research agendas.
- Experience in deploying ML models in production.
- Research expertise in Generative AI and Large Language Models.
- Research experience in Ads or Search Quality.
- Coding experience with Python.
