The Stigler Center for the Study of the Economy and the State at the University of Chicago is looking for Research Professionals to start in the 2025-2026 academic year. This one-year position involves full-time collaboration with faculty to provide key research support through data management, statistical analysis, and project coordination, with the possibility of a second year.
What You'll Do
- Collect data, conduct complex statistical analysis, write statistical software programs, and organize the presentation of results.
- Assist with writing, editing, and preparing working papers, literature reviews, and other documents.
- Create charts, tables, and descriptive text for publications and faculty.
- Maintain databases, review background materials, and perform preliminary research.
- Coordinate research tasks with research assistants and interns.
- Staff and support Stigler Center conferences, programs, and other activities.
- Assist in the preparation of teaching material and course packets.
- Maintain technical and administrative support for research projects.
- Analyze and maintain data and conduct literature reviews.
- Perform other related work as needed.
What We're Looking For
- A college or university degree in a related field.
- Knowledge and skills developed through less than two years of work experience in a related job discipline.
Nice to Have
- A bachelor’s degree in economics or a related quantitative field such as statistics, mathematics, finance, or computer science.
- Training in economics through the intermediate theory level.
- Training in econometrics or mathematical statistics.
- At least one year of research or other directly related experience.
- Proficiency with statistical software and programming languages such as STATA, R, and Python.
- Ability to create reproducible, well-documented projects and manage advanced codebases.
- Capacity to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently and with others to meet deadlines under pressure.
- Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to take on challenges.

Benefits & Compensation
- Salary range: $59,000.00 - $62,000.00.
