The University of Chicago invites applications for a Research Assistant in the Beaulieu-Jones lab. This role focuses on the safe and equitable development of AI for clinical applications. You will contribute to model development, evaluation, and validation using clinical data within the Section of Biomedical Data Science.
What You'll Do
- Work closely with lab members and Data Scientists to support the study of AI development in healthcare.
- Assist in the research, development, and application of machine learning models to clinical data.
- Participate in the evaluation and validation of developed models across multiple datasets and settings.
- Support lab efforts to publish research findings in scientific journals and present findings at conferences.
- Participate in lab activities including meetings, offering feedback, literature review, and preparing research materials.
- Collect and enter data, assist in data analysis, and help prepare reports and manuscripts.
- Comply with institutional, state, and federal regulatory policies, procedures, and mandates.
What We're Looking For
- Vocational training, apprenticeships, or equivalent experience in a related field.
- Knowledge and skills developed through < 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
Nice to Have
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, data science, biomedical informatics, or a related field.
- Previous research experience.
- Programming skills in Python or other languages commonly used for statistical programming, including R.
- Demonstrated interest or experience in machine learning frameworks like PyTorch.
- Familiarity with medical datasets or prior translatable field experience.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with a strong interest in collaborative research.
