Position Overview
This role supports a Department of Commerce initiative by delivering rigorous research and analytical insights to inform federal policy and program decisions. Reporting to a Project Manager, the Research Analyst will gather, assess, and interpret data from diverse sources, ensuring findings are thoroughly documented and clearly communicated.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed research using public records, industry data, and other authoritative sources to evaluate trends and support program goals
- Analyze both qualitative and quantitative information to identify patterns, draw conclusions, and assess implications
- Develop comprehensive reports that outline methodologies, present findings, and offer evidence-based recommendations
- Transform complex data into clear, well-structured documentation suitable for decision-makers
- Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to verify results and maintain analytical rigor
- Work autonomously and as part of a team, following established protocols and project timelines
- Ensure all work complies with program standards, including documentation practices and methodological consistency
Qualifications
- Minimum of two years in a research, analysis, or evaluation-focused position
- Proven ability to interpret diverse data types and extract meaningful insights
- Experience integrating information from multiple sources into coherent, actionable outputs
- Strong written communication skills, with a focus on technical reporting and documentation
- High level of accuracy and organizational ability, especially when managing multiple tasks
- Capacity to operate effectively in a structured setting, both independently and within a team
- Potential requirement to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or similar government suitability clearance
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field plus four years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and professional background
Work Environment
This is a hybrid position based in Boulder, CO. Employees are expected to work on-site several days per week, with remote work permitted on approved days. Candidates must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the location. Core business hours are 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM Mountain Time. A reliable internet connection and appropriate remote workspace are required when working off-site.
Compensation & Benefits
The annual salary range is $88,000 to $102,000, with final offers determined by experience, skills, education, internal equity, location, and contract stipulations. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage; a matching 401(k) plan; continuing education support; and paid time off.
