Work alongside researchers in a leading energy analysis center to advance understanding of carbon management technologies and sustainable chemical systems. This role supports critical work in evaluating carbon capture methods, bio-based chemical production, and carbon utilization strategies through literature review, data analysis, and technical assessment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive reviews of scientific literature on carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) and bio-derived chemical pathways
- Support analysis of pre- and post-combustion carbon capture technologies
- Investigate biomass-based intermediates and their role in low-carbon chemical manufacturing
- Contribute to assessments of carbon storage and utilization options
- Assist in evaluating techno-economic performance and environmental metrics for carbon management systems
Qualifications
Applicants must be currently enrolled full-time in an undergraduate program or have recently completed a bachelor’s or advanced degree within the past 12 months. Eligible fields include Environmental Science, Engineering, Atmospheric Science, or related disciplines.
Required qualifications include a minimum 3.0 GPA, strong interest in carbon management or environmental monitoring, foundational data analysis skills, and clear written and verbal communication abilities. Candidates must demonstrate self-direction, organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively. Some travel to field sites or laboratory locations may be required.
Preferred Experience
- Familiarity with direct air capture (DAC), carbon capture and storage (CCS), or biomass carbon removal and storage (BiCRS)
- Experience preparing technical publications or professional presentations
- Background in life cycle assessment (LCA) or techno-economic analysis (TEA)
- Prior involvement in applied research or community-based science initiatives
Work Environment
This position operates in a hybrid mode, with options for on-site work in Golden, Colorado, or remote arrangements from approved locations. The lab fosters a collaborative, mission-driven culture focused on advancing secure, affordable, and sustainable energy solutions through interdisciplinary research.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary ranges from $34,800 to $55,700 annually.
