About the Role
This position supports attorneys by managing case files, preparing legal documents, and maintaining communication with clients seeking immigration relief through waiver applications.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and organize immigration waiver applications and supporting documentation
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client case files
- Communicate with clients to collect necessary personal and legal information
- Assist in drafting correspondence and legal forms under attorney supervision
- Track case deadlines and ensure timely submission of materials
- Coordinate with legal team members on case progress and updates
- Review submitted documents for completeness and compliance
- Schedule client appointments and legal consultations
- Support notarization and authentication of legal paperwork
- Respond to client inquiries via phone and email within established timelines
- Monitor case statuses and notify team of developments
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive client information
- Assist in translating documents when bilingual skills are applicable
- Organize digital records using case management software
- Prepare mailing packages for government agencies
- Follow internal procedures for quality assurance in filing
- Support attorneys during case reviews and hearings preparation
- Update clients on application processing timelines
- Identify missing documentation and request supplemental materials
- Contribute to process improvements in case handling workflows
Nice to Have
- Prior experience in an immigration law office
- Direct involvement with I-601 or I-601A waiver filings
- Familiarity with defensive asylum contexts
- Paralegal certification from an accredited program
- Experience using Clio or similar case management platforms
- Advanced Spanish language proficiency
- Knowledge of U visa or VAWA processes
