About the Role
This role supports the administration of employee benefits programs, including health, dental, and retirement plans. The specialist will assist with onboarding, resolve employee inquiries, and ensure compliance with regulations.
Responsibilities
- Assist with enrollment in health, dental, and vision insurance plans
- Respond to employee questions about benefits coverage and claims
- Maintain accurate records in benefits databases
- Support open enrollment periods with documentation and guidance
- Verify employee eligibility for benefit programs
- Coordinate with insurance providers to resolve issues
- Process life changes such as marriage or birth in benefits systems
- Provide support during new hire onboarding for benefits selection
- Track deadlines for benefit-related filings and renewals
- Assist in preparing reports for management review
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations
- Update employees on changes to benefit offerings
- Organize and distribute benefits communication materials
- Monitor employee benefit elections for accuracy
- Escalate complex cases to senior staff when needed
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions
- Follow data privacy protocols when handling personal information
- Assist in auditing benefits records annually
- Support retirement plan administration tasks
- Use customer service skills to guide employees through processes
Nice to Have
- Coursework in human resources management
- Prior experience supporting benefits or payroll functions
- Familiarity with COBRA regulations
- Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines
- Experience using ADP or similar platforms
- Exposure to retirement plan administration
- Customer service experience in a corporate setting
- Intermediate Excel skills including pivot tables
- Understanding of insurance terminology
- Experience with document management systems
