The Recovery Village, dedicated to treating addiction, substance abuse, and mental health issues, is hiring a Remote AR Collections Specialist. In this role, you will manage the full accounts receivable lifecycle for a behavioral health provider, from claim creation and submission to follow-up and resolution, ensuring the highest quality of care is supported by sound financial processes.
What You'll Do
- Work remotely in a distraction-free environment, adhering to a set schedule.
- Audit active and non-active client accounts daily to ensure proper program, authorization, diagnosis, and revenue details are captured.
- Communicate with department and hospital staff to resolve issues related to billing, charge capture, insurance, and authorizations.
- Address all rejected claims by merging, editing, and filing them correctly per billing rules.
- Keep all management-assigned worklists current and compliant in both productivity and accuracy.
- Update the EMR and patient accounts as needed and open IT tickets for billing delays.
- Follow up on submitted third-party billing to ensure claims are on file and set to pay.
- Resolve claims issues by filing corrective claims, appeals, providing additional information, or escalating to UR appeal/Management.
- Document all actions throughout the claim life cycle within Avatar, Waystar, and BB Tech (Tool Kit).
- Identify trends in claim rejections and denials and report them to management.
- Attend AR meetings as required.
- Apply standard improvement processes like PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Action).
- Maintain strict confidentiality, adhering to Part2 regulations, HIPAA guidelines, state regulations, and all company policies.
What We're Looking For
- Must reside in the Eastern (ET) or Central Time (CT) Zone.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in medical business matters at an Acute Hospital Organization, Physician practice, Behavioral Health Facility, or Medical Billing Company.
- Ability to use a personal computer meeting company software and security standards (Windows 11 with latest updates, up-to-date antivirus).
- Stable internet connection, a distraction-free workspace, and a functional webcam for video calls.
- Knowledge of State & Federal Statutes Regarding Patient Confidentiality laws; Drug-Free Workplace Policies; Workplace Violence; Corporate Integrity & Compliance Program.
- Knowledge of Customer and Personal Service; Mathematics; Education and Training; Clerical; Computers and Electronics; Reporting.
- Skills in Active Listening, Speaking, Coordination, Social Perceptiveness, Critical Thinking, Judgment and Decision Making, Monitoring, and Reading Comprehension.
- Skills in Deductive Reasoning, Inductive Reasoning, Written and Oral Expression, Problem Sensitivity, Written and Oral Comprehension, Speech Clarity and Recognition.
- Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team with excellent interpersonal and telephone skills.
- Ability to communicate accurately and concisely, both written and oral.
- Effective financial assistance in charge, billing capture, and collection efforts.
Nice to Have
- Associates Degree.
- Lean Six Sigma, Kaizen, or other Lean Process Management experience.
- CPC, CPAT, or CPAM certification.

Team & Environment
This is a fully remote position with periodic contact with management via phone or Microsoft Teams. You will report directly to the management team.
