Bayshore HealthCare was looking for a Rehab Assistant

Bayshore HealthCare is looking for a Rehab Assistant to provide essential rehabilitative support to clients recovering from illness, injury, or impairment. In this role, you will work directly with patients, often in home and community settings, to implement treatment plans designed by Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists.

What You'll Do

  • Implement rehabilitation, exercise, and cognitive therapy programs as directed by the Physiotherapist and/or Occupational Therapist.
  • Promote maximum client independence in the home, community, and workplace to support successful re-integration.
  • Facilitate and supervise activities of daily living, social, educational, and vocational re-integration programs.
  • Promote and implement prescribed leisure activities.
  • Attend required case conferences and team meetings.
  • Transport clients as directed, with valid insurance coverage.
  • Understand and implement infection prevention practices.
  • Participate in continuing education, quality improvement, and proactive Health & Safety activities.
  • Adhere to Bayshore Policies and Procedures, maintaining confidentiality of all client and corporate information.
  • Complete other tasks as requested.

What We're Looking For

  • Completion of a recognized Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, or Rehabilitation Assistant College Program OR a university degree in Kinesiology or a similar health care field.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • You enjoy working with people in a fast-paced, client-service environment.
  • Strong communication (oral and written) and exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle difficult situations objectively and work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Capacity to be self-directed while effectively taking direction.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with personal computers and secure email.
  • A commitment to continual learning.

Nice to Have

  • OTA/PTA education.
  • Job experience specific to acquired brain injury, spinal cord injury, musculoskeletal injuries, WSIB, and auto insurance.

Team & Environment

This role reports to the Director Therapy & Rehabilitation, Manager of Rehab, or designate as appropriate.
