About the Role

Santander is seeking a Regulatory Reporting Associate to join our Controllership team. In this role, you will manage and monitor large projects and accounting processes within the regulatory reporting function, with a specific focus on capital. You will provide subject matter expertise, guidance, and interpretation to leaders and business lines across the organization.

What You'll Do

  • Manage and monitor large project or process implementations within the regulatory reporting function.
  • Provide accounting expertise and guidance on policy, procedural changes, and their impact to leaders and business lines.
  • Direct and guide capital reporting teams by reviewing financial information, reports, and disclosures.
  • Ensure departmental compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Research and analyze new products, systems, and best practices within the accounting function; propose findings to senior leadership.
  • Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures while maintaining high accuracy.
  • Communicate accounting developments impacting operations, financials, and regulatory reporting to management.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with all lines of business to facilitate timely implementation and standardization of new regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with other finance department managers to support overall department goals.
  • Advise senior management on best practices to meet defined goals and objectives.
  • Manage projects and initiatives as requested by senior management.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Improve existing processes and practices within the Regulatory Reporting department.
  • Represent the organization as a primary subject matter expert for specific accounting projects and updates.
  • Coach, review, and delegate work to junior professionals as needed.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent field.
  • 9+ years of experience in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a similar field within the Banking or Financial Services Industry.
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting practices and procedures, including US GAAP/IFRS and regulatory reporting standards.
  • Advanced spreadsheet skills (Excel formula development, pivot tables, macro development, familiarity with text, look-up and reference, data and financial functions).
  • Solid understanding of bank accounting (Balance Sheet, Income Statement).
  • Proven ability to leverage technology to improve and automate business tasks.
  • Proven project management skills.
  • Strong understanding of financial controls and system validation methods.
  • Ability to lead, influence, and direct peers, subordinates, and management.
  • Ability to make effective decisions on complex matters.
  • Ability to convey a sense of urgency and drive.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to interact with senior level management and interface with multiple levels of the organizational structure.
  • Ability to maintain and report on confidential information appropriately.
  • Strong interpersonal, supervisory, and customer service skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to analyze information quickly.
  • Self-directed, self-motivated, with a demonstrated history of providing ideas and solutions to further business understanding.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Nice to Have

  • Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent field.
  • Advanced database skills (Access, SQL, Oracle, SAS).
  • Knowledge of European Basel III capital reporting.
  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) certification.
  • An established work history or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military service, or education.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office products.

Benefits & Compensation

  • Salary range: $93,750.00 - $165,000.00 USD.
