Lifepoint Health is seeking a Registrar to be the first point of contact for patients, providing essential registration services at the hospital front desk. You will be responsible for gathering and verifying patient information, coordinating admissions, and ensuring compliance with hospital policies. What You'll Do
- Gather and verify patient account information and insurance coverage, ensuring accurate entry of all demographic, billing, and clinical data.
- Distribute forms, obtain necessary signatures, and meet with patients or caregivers to exchange essential information.
- Communicate with physician offices, nursing units, and other personnel to coordinate admissions and determine patient placement.
- Verify insurance benefits, obtain precertifications and authorizations, and process payments or refer to financial counselors.
- Provide excellent customer service, addressing patient questions and concerns while maintaining strict professionalism and confidentiality.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) and registration software efficiently to manage data and support documentation compliance.
- Collaborate with various departments to resolve registration issues, facilitating smooth patient admissions and adherence to policies.
What We're Looking For
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required; three years of directly related experience may be substituted for the required education.
- Previous computer experience, including familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) or registration systems.
- Strong critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to interact professionally with patients, families, and staff.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced, and sometimes stressful environment.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to maintain accuracy while managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of medical terminology and hospital procedures; billing or collections experience is strongly preferred.
