International SOS Government Medical Services is hiring a Registered Nurse to join our team. In this role, you will provide comprehensive nursing care, performing patient assessments, administering medications, and managing both chronic and acute health conditions. You'll collaborate within a healthcare team to ensure effective medical services while maintaining high standards of safety, security, and regulatory compliance.
What You'll Do
- Provide intake screening and physical exams to identify conditions requiring referral or treatment.
- Care for common acute problems via nursing guidelines and perform sick call assessments.
- Conduct nursing rounds for patients in infirmary care and segregated housing.
- Administer medications via oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular, intravenous, topical, ophthalmic, and other routes.
- Perform pre-screening and intake screening of patients newly arrived at the facility.
- Execute various treatments including wound care, vital sign checks, and electrocardiograms.
- Collect laboratory specimens and perform point-of-care testing.
- Respond to medical emergencies and render emergency care to stabilize patients.
- Participate in involuntary, court-ordered care.
- Provide clinical supervision to Licensed Vocational Practical Nurses and unlicensed assistive personnel.
- Work in a multi-cultural and multi-lingual environment, utilizing telephonic interpreter services as needed.
- Adapt to sudden changes in schedules and demonstrate flexibility in work requirements.
- Navigate an electronic work environment including electronic health records, web-based training, and communications.
- Complete required organizational compliance education.
What We're Looking For
- Unrestricted and current license as a Registered Nurse issued by the state licensing authority.
- Minimum one year of professional experience as a licensed registered nurse in a hospital, medical office, or residential setting.
- Graduate from an associate, baccalaureate, or graduate nursing program accredited by ACEN or CCNE.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with proficiency in English.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, cultural competency, integrity, and critical thinking.
- Ability to greet and deal tactfully with the public and maintain poise during stressful situations.
- Physical capability to meet job demands, including walking unaided for up to 5 minutes, jogging/fast walking up to ¼ mile, lifting objects greater than 30 pounds, and performing CPR standing or kneeling.
- Must be able to see, hear, and smell with aids if necessary.
- Must maintain current/physical residency in the continental U.S., be a U.S. citizen, and have resided in the U.S. for the last five years.
- Ability to pass a medical examination within 30 days prior to assignment and successfully complete a thorough Background Investigation.
- Ability to obtain required security clearances.
Nice to Have
- Certified Correctional Health Professional, Certified Correctional Health Professional – Registered Nurse, or Certified Corrections Nurse credential.
- Experience in a detention/correctional healthcare setting or residential healthcare setting.
- Verbal and written proficiency in Spanish.
