About the Role

International SOS Government Medical Services is hiring a Registered Nurse Assistant Manager to support the Nurse Manager in overseeing nursing staff and ensuring high-quality healthcare delivery in compliance with regulatory standards. You will manage daily operations, address clinical issues, and foster a collaborative environment for optimal patient care and staff development.

What You'll Do

  • Support the Nurse Manager in providing direct supervision of nursing staff and oversee all aspects of the nursing program.
  • Manage staff scheduling, provide coverage for absences, and develop and execute orientation and other staff training.
  • Provide guidance and counseling to staff to maximize performance and adherence to appropriate guidance.
  • Assist in the front-line supervision of patient care provided by all nursing staff.
  • Assist in developing plans, creating schedules and assignments.
  • Provide direction of nursing care and evaluate efforts independently.
  • Assist in planning and collaborating on patient care interventions with other health care professionals.
  • Evaluate and revise patient treatment plans at appropriate intervals in collaboration with the healthcare team.
  • Review patient records to assess treatment progress, adequacy of record keeping, and implementation of clinical guidelines.
  • Meet regularly with multidisciplinary treatment team members to discuss proposed revisions of medical treatment.
  • Serve as a liaison while maintaining collaborative relationships with members of other healthcare disciplines.
  • Conduct staff in-services on general and complex subjects aimed at improving nursing and medical care.
  • Coordinate nursing care with other onsite staff.
  • Coordinate the treatment and transport, if necessary, of acutely ill or injured patients.
  • Lead the orientation and training of new nursing personnel.
  • Provide appropriate health teaching and counseling to provide reinforcement and guidance.
  • Serve as a team member for analyzing established protocol practices and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Participate with developing recommendations for improved efficiency of patient care.
  • Assist with program design activities, strategy development, problem resolution, and project implementation.
  • Perform duties as a Registered Nurse when required to meet the mission needs of the agency.

What We're Looking For

  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted Registered Nurse license in a U.S. State, territory, commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.
  • Able to obtain licensure in the state where services are performed if required.
  • Minimum three years professional nursing experience.
  • Minimum three years supervisory experience.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certified through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
  • At least one year of general experience demonstrating ability to greet and deal tactfully with the public.
  • Capability of understanding and applying written and verbal orders, rules, and regulations.
  • Good judgment, courage, alertness, an even temperament, and satisfactory performance through knowledge of position responsibilities.
  • Ability to maintain poise and self-control during situations that involve mental stress.
  • Graduate from a baccalaureate or graduate nursing program for Registered Nurses accredited by ACEN or CCNE.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing.

  • Moderate proficiency in common Microsoft Office programs, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint.
  • Knowledge of regulations (HIPAA/Privacy Act) regarding the confidentiality of patient medical records and Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
  • Demonstrate cultural sensitivity in all communications with coworkers and clients.
  • Complete required organizational compliance education.
  • Required to walk unaided at a normal pace for up to 5 minutes and maintain balance.
  • Required to jog/fast walk up to ¼ mile.
  • Requires physical exertion such as lifting objects greater than 30 pounds.
  • Required to perform CPR/emergency care standing or kneeling.
  • Must have the ability to assist sick, injured, or aging patients or staff exiting the building.
  • Must be able to see, hear and smell with aids if necessary.
  • Must be able to lift, push, or carry 30 pounds.
  • Must perform the duties of the job in a stressful and often austere environment without physical limitations.
  • Sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time.
  • Average manual dexterity for computer operation.
  • Phone or computer use for extended periods of time.
  • Must maintain current/physical residency in the continental U.S.
  • Pass a medical examination conducted by a licensed physician within 30 days prior to initial assignment.
  • U.S. citizen and have resided in the U.S. for the last five years (unless abroad on official U.S. government duty).
  • Successfully engage in and complete a thorough Background Investigation.
  • Possess or have ability to obtain required security clearances.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in a detention/correctional healthcare setting.
  • Verbal and written proficiency in Spanish.

This role reports directly to the Nurse Manager and is part of a nursing leadership team focused on collaborative patient care and staff development.
