Aquarion Water Company is hiring a Recreational Patrol to serve as a frontline ambassador for watershed protection at our public recreation areas. You will play a direct role in safeguarding the region's drinking water supply while ensuring a safe, orderly experience for visitors.
What You'll Do
- Promote an understanding of watershed function and its critical link to the public water supply.
- Effectively communicate recreation program rules designed to protect water quality and wildlife habitat.
- Patrol reservoir fishing areas and roughly 20 miles of hiking trails to monitor visitor activity.
- Check user permits and address rule violations through clear, professional interaction.
- Log all visitor interactions and document any rule violations.
- Coordinate with Watershed staff to report issues like garbage, dumping, or damaged property.
What We're Looking For
- A safety-first attitude and strict compliance with all safety rules and policies.
- Knowledge of outdoor recreation activities, especially fishing and hiking.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, often independently.
- Capacity to perform essential functions outdoors in wooded areas and around water bodies.
- Willingness to work in all weather conditions.
- Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods over uneven terrain.
- Capability to use hand tools, climb ladders, and occasionally lift up to 40 lbs.
- A valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Must be able to swim.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must have or be able to obtain a CT Boating Safety Certificate.
- Must have or be able to obtain First Aid, CPR, AED certification.
- Must have or be able to obtain CT Security Guard certification.
Nice to Have
- Bilingual ability in Spanish.
- A genuine love for outdoor recreation.
- Relevant experience in roles such as park ranger, marine patrol, park maintainer, or educator.
Team & Environment
You will report directly to the Manager, Natural Resources.
Benefits & Compensation
- Hourly pay rate: $24.00/hour.

This is an onsite position based at Aquarion's recreation areas.
