Hannover Re is looking for a Quantitative Actuarial Analyst to join our Insurance Linked Securities (ILS) team. In this role, you will help transfer reinsurance risks to the capital markets through securitisations and fronting solutions, working closely with brokers, legal specialists, and banking partners to develop innovative solutions for our clients.
What You'll Do
- Carefully review Cat-Bond submissions, assess risks, and identify specific features such as windstorm or earthquake exposure.
- Structure analyses clearly and support the team in deciding whether risks should be underwritten.
- Work closely with colleagues from Underwriting, Actuarial, Risk Management, and Legal, as well as with external partners, to ensure smooth and efficient processes.
- Work on projects that convert (re)insurance losses into catastrophe bonds, contributing to contract documentation and supporting investors and reinsurance partners.
What We're Looking For
- A completed degree in a scientific field such as (business) mathematics, meteorology, physics, statistics or a comparable qualification.
- English at a business-fluent level (C1/C2).
- German at a confident conversational level (B2 or above).
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to make sound decisions in day-to-day work.
- Ability to structure complex data and models clearly, translate them into actionable recommendations.
- Strong numerical skills and attention to detail.
- Enjoy working in a team, sharing knowledge and building trust-based relationships with internal and external partners.
Nice to Have
- Initial practical experience in actuarial work, risk management, insurance or banking — for example through internships, student roles or early professional experience.
