Centrica is hiring a Quant Trader to join the Algorithmic Trading team within Centrica Energy. In this role, you will work across the full spectrum of algorithmic trading—from data research and backtesting to implementation and live strategy monitoring.
What You'll Do
- Conduct research, development, and validation of trading strategies for short-term power markets across Europe and North America.
- Collaborate with the team in the creative process of inventing new algorithmic trading concepts.
- Develop and maintain tools for algorithmic trading operations.
- Monitor and maintain live trading strategies.
- Monetize business areas via algorithmic trading with clear profit objectives.
What We're Looking For
- A Master’s degree or higher in mathematics, physics, or a closely related field.
- Talent and passion for data science and/or quantitative modelling.
- A strong interest in trading and a commercial mindset.
- The confidence to take models to the market.
- An approach to problems marked by curiosity, creativity, and innovation.
- An ability to embrace challenges and excel at developing original solutions.
- Experience as a user of Python or R.
- A collaborative nature, thriving in a team-oriented environment.
- Good communication skills in English.
