Bureau Veritas is looking for a Quality Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring all construction materials, workmanship, and quantities meet defined technical, contractual, and safety standards. You will maintain strict quality assurance and control protocols while overseeing the accurate measurement, certification, and financial monitoring of executed works, upholding our commitment to the Bureau Veritas Quality Assurance System.
What You'll Do
- Review and verify all material test certificates and quality reports from contractors and manufacturers.
- Witness third-party laboratory tests for construction materials, including fresh concrete procedures like slump tests and cube making.
- Supervise site practices for sampling, collection, placement, and curing of concrete to ensure specification compliance.
- Analyze monthly test results, highlighting non-conformities or abnormal findings.
- Inspect Ready-Mix Concrete plant operations to verify adherence to approved design mix and quality standards.
- Review contractor’s monthly progress reports and validate physical progress against planned targets.
- Monitor and verify material consumption, inventory, and indents.
- Examine contractor-submitted quantities and bills, recommending approval or rejection and highlighting discrepancies.
- Track project budget, contractor costs, and actual expenditures, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions.
- Assess contractors’ and subcontractors’ claims, variations, and disputes for accuracy and contractual compliance.
- Certify the value of completed work for interim and final payments.
- Assist in preparing the final cost statement and resolving outstanding financial matters.
What We're Looking For
- A B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering.
- A minimum of 7 years of overall experience, with direct experience in Infrastructure Projects.
- In-depth understanding of road construction techniques, materials, and specifications (bituminous, concrete, and granular works).
- Familiarity with relevant IS codes, IRC standards, MoRTH specifications, and contract documents.
- Strong knowledge of Quality Assurance/Quality Control procedures in civil engineering.
- Proficiency in cost estimation, quantity surveying, and bill verification processes.
- Knowledge of material testing procedures, both laboratory and field-based.
- Understanding of construction budgeting, financial monitoring, and project cost control.
- Analytical skills to effectively evaluate test results, cost data, and variances.
- Meticulous attention to detail for accuracy in quality checks, material verification, and bill certification.
- Clear communication skills for reporting and coordinating with contractors, consultants, and clients.
- Strong decision-making ability to provide recommendations on material acceptance, payment certification, and dispute handling.
- Technical proficiency in MS Excel, AutoCAD, ERP/project management tools, and cost reporting software.
- Problem-solving skills to detect quality deviations or financial irregularities and suggest corrective actions.
- Integrity and professionalism to uphold ethical standards while reviewing bills, claims, and disputes.
- A collaborative approach to work effectively with project management teams, site engineers, and contractors.
