Babcock International is looking for a Quality Control Coatings Inspector to join the Type 31 Frigate shipbuilding programme. You will be at the heart of one of the UK’s most ambitious naval projects, playing a key role in national defence and maritime security.
What You'll Do
- Manage Inspection Test Records (ITRs) and maintain completion records in CMS.
- Coordinate third-party inspections and manage inspection schedules.
- Support the Quality Manager in achieving project-wide quality and governance objectives.
- Inspect structural and piping coatings in a fast-paced shipbuilding environment.
- Liaise with Lloyds Register and other verification bodies to ensure compliance.
What We're Looking For
- In-depth understanding of coatings inspection and quality assurance processes.
- Broad knowledge of warship construction and sound decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and report writing abilities.
- Strong knowledge of Quality Control in naval ship construction.
- Ability to assess and assure the quality of work by production teams and subcontractors.
- Minimum ICORR Level 2 CIS / NACE Level 2 / FROSIO Level 2.
- Qualified to a recognised trade standard and relevant academic level.
- Must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance.
Nice to Have
- ICORR Level 2 in Thermal and Acoustic Insulation.
- IPAF certification.

This is an onsite position based at the Rosyth, Fife shipyard.
