Preformed Line Products is seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer to assist in the development, implementation, and coordination of administrative functions for the Corporate Quality Assurance Department, including our Quality Assurance Program, Customer Feedback system, and ISO-9001 Program.
What You'll Do
- Assist with the planning, development, and administration of quality assurance and control systems.
- Analyze testing and inspection procedures to ensure adequacy and compliance.
- Diagnose and correct improper quality control practices using metrology and statistical methods.
- Conduct capability studies of plant and supplier manufacturing processes.
- Audit internal quality systems for deficiencies.
- Review engineering drawings and specifications to ensure measurability and manufacturability of key features.
- Define measurement methods at plants and suppliers to establish consistency.
- Represent the QA department in new projects, reviewing customer specifications and quality planning.
- Develop Inspection and Test Plans for both existing and new products.
- Coordinate ITP implementation with plant Quality Assurance personnel.
- Evaluate finished products, purchased products, and raw materials against established specifications.
- Utilize physical, mechanical, and electrical testing procedures and inspection equipment for routine lab tasks.
- Interpret engineering recommendations, customer specifications, and drawings for suppliers or internal facilities.
- Conduct source inspection and Quality System audits of suppliers.
- Work with suppliers to implement required improvements.
- Investigate field complaints and product failures, analyzing problems and determining causes.
- Assist engineers and plant personnel in reducing nonconformities using Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action tools.
- Drive reduction in nonconformities through process controls, gauging methods, and specification rationalization.
- Assist suppliers with meeting quality expectations using Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action tools.
- Develop and conduct material test procedures to comply with industry and customer specifications.
- Prepare and perform analysis in support of product development.
- Maintain the Supplier Risk Assessment and Inspection Level programs.
- Provide support of the Customer Feedback database and follow up with internal teams.
- Implement Lean techniques for continuous improvement.
- Attend technical meetings, conferences, and specialized courses.
- Effectively identify and use software tools as appropriate to the task.
- Train personnel in inspection, testing, and other techniques.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor of Science Degree in a technical curriculum.
- A minimum of two to five years of experience in quality assurance and/or manufacturing engineering.
- Experience focusing on project management, measurement, testing, documentation, specification review, and ISO 9001 standards.
- Ability to use a computer and applications such as Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Must be able to read and interpret technical drawings.
Nice to Have
- Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering Degree.
- ASQ Quality Engineering Certification or Auditor Certification.
- Experience with MiniTab or other statistical analysis software.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to write technical documents.
- Proficient in operating general inspection and test equipment.
- Keyence knowledge.

Team & Environment
You will assist in the development and coordination of functions for the Corporate Quality Assurance Department, reporting directly to the Quality Assurance Manager.
