SCUSA Saputo Cheese USA Inc. is hiring a Quality Control Technician to serve as the shift's quality expert. In this critical role, you will actively monitor production areas, inspect product quality, perform sampling and analysis, and ensure compliance with established specifications. You will document deviations and recommend corrective actions, directly supporting our commitment to making high-quality dairy products.
What You'll Do
- Collect samples and perform physical, analytical, and microbiological testing on raw ingredients, packaging materials, and finished goods.
- Identify and clearly communicate any out-of-specification analytical test results.
- Routinely collect product samples from production lines as required.
- Maintain all QC records and filing systems, accurately completing testing documents and entering data.
- Prepare stock solutions, calibrate lab equipment, and perform environmental control swabbing after clean-up.
- Support internal and external audits, mock recalls, and product recall program guidelines.
- Prepare production records to isolate non-conforming product and distribute certificates of analysis.
- Complete, pass, and maintain specific State regulatory licensing requirements.
- Adhere to all Quality Assurance Procedures (QAP’s), federal, state, and local regulations, and the Saputo Code of Ethics.
What We're Looking For
- Ability to pass and maintain required regulatory certification.
- Strong math, computer, and business skills, including experience with SAP and Microsoft Office.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and a demonstrated work history.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with noise, temperature changes, and prolonged standing/walking.
- Ability to work with chemicals using proper PPE and handling procedures.
- Good visual acuity with color differentiation and sensory health to taste, smell, and evaluate odors.
- Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs intermittently throughout a shift.
- Flexibility for 24/7 shift work and required daily/weekly overtime.
Nice to Have
- An Associate’s Degree with a concentration in Food or Dairy Science.
- Previous experience with food quality specifications, physical/analytical testing, and process control monitoring.
- Advanced quality or food safety training and certifications.
- A working understanding of food manufacturing acronyms (SQF, QA/QC, HACCP, GMP, etc.).
