Excelitas is looking for a Purchasing Agent to be a key member of our supply chain organization. In this role, you will be in contact with suppliers before and after purchasing activities, directly impacting our goal of becoming the supplier of choice by securing the best suppliers at the lowest total cost.
What You'll Do
- Manage the consignment business process in SAP, assisting in contract negotiations.
- Oversee subcontracting processes in SAP and verify the accuracy of execution.
- Act as an expert for assigned Long-Term Agreements (LTAs) and contracts.
- Analyze historical and forecast purchasing data to identify potential savings through quantitative contracts or value engineering.
- Enter purchase orders into the ERP system, integrate new suppliers, and coordinate delivery schedules with planning and manufacturing teams.
- Coordinate the return and replacement of materials based on Non-Conforming Material Reports (NCMRs).
- Verify and approve freight invoices related to purchases.
- Support finance by negotiating advantageous payment terms and maintaining strict financial control over purchase orders.
- Assist in meeting ISO 9000 standards and prepare reports, including monthly supplier performance metrics.
- Take initiative for procurement activities related to new product transfers to the Montreal site.
- Coordinate export compliance, including denied party list verification and collaboration on ITAR registrations and authorizations.
- Actively participate in the continuous evaluation and improvement of procurement-related processes.
What We're Looking For
- A college diploma in business administration or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least one course from ACGA or equivalent plus 4 years of experience in administrative processes within a manufacturing environment, with demonstrated expertise in supplier management.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and SAP.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to build effective relationships with suppliers and internal colleagues at all levels.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey clear, timely, and targeted messages.
- Comfort with telephone prospecting and confidence in building relationships with new suppliers.
- Effective time management skills to meet commitments in a changing environment with multiple demands, continuously seeking ways to improve efficiency.
- Ability to acquire a deep understanding of Excelitas products and core processes.
- A consistent record of high-quality performance, a strong bias for action, and a results-oriented mindset with positive change management.
