Apex Companies is looking for a Project Manager to provide technical leadership on drinking water system design projects throughout New England. This hybrid role involves leading teams on projects like treatment plants, pump stations, and distribution systems, contributing to our growth-focused, entrepreneurial culture.
What You'll Do
- Manage project implementation with your assigned team, adhering to company policies and procedures.
- Initiate projects by developing proposals, scopes of work, and project budgets for approval.
- Supervise and direct technical staff, assisting in their training and professional development.
- Consult with other technical staff and Project Managers on drinking water discipline challenges.
- Oversee the technical accuracy of projects through regular communication and review of plans, specifications, reports, and calculations.
- Track all project costs, including labor and expenses, and ensure timely client invoicing.
- Perform other tasks like proposal preparation, participating in project interviews, attending public meetings, developing fee proposals, preparing contracts, and presenting to potential clients.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering and 9+ years of related experience with increasing responsibility, or a master’s degree with 8+ years of experience.
- Registered Professional Engineer or other Professional Registrations as appropriate in State(s) where Apex works, or ability to obtain same by reciprocity.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with clients, staff, subconsultants, and contractors through effective leadership and strong written and verbal communication.
- A strong understanding of state and federal regulatory frameworks and experience interacting with regulators.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a strong desire to manage and mentor junior staff.
- A valid driver’s license.
Team & Environment
You'll be part of the Northeast Division, reporting to a Principal.

Work Mode
This is a hybrid position. Location in the Greater Boston area is preferred, but candidates in other parts of New England will be considered.
