Glencore MUMI (Mutanda Mining) is hiring a Project Engineering Manager to oversee the engineering delivery for the MUMI Sulphide Project. Reporting directly to the Sulphides Project Director, you will be accountable for the planning, coordination, execution, and control of all engineering work to meet approved scope, schedule, budget, safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
What You'll Do
- Lead and manage both the EPCM engineering team and the Support Owners Team across process, mechanical, electrical, civil, and instrumentation disciplines.
- Develop engineering execution strategies aligned with project objectives and establish technical standards, procedures, and best practices.
- Oversee engineering design from concept through detailed engineering into construction and commissioning phases.
- Monitor project and engineering schedules to ensure milestones are met and coordinate with procurement, construction, and operations teams.
- Review and approve technical documents, drawings, specifications, and calculations while managing change control processes.
- Support commissioning, start-up activities, and ensure complete engineering documentation handover to operations.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, international standards, and company policies, including HSE compliance.
- Maintain engineering QA/QC and oversee risk assessments, HAZOP studies, and technical audits.
- Develop and manage the engineering budget while optimizing manpower allocation and external consultant usage.
What We're Looking For
- A National Diploma/Degree or equivalent in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Process, or related field).
- 10–15 years of engineering experience, with a minimum of 5 years in an engineering or project management leadership role.
- Proven experience in Mining, Processing Plant, Construction, or Industrial Projects.
- Required experience working for an Engineering Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) company as well as taking a leadership role in a Client Owners Team.
- Strong leadership, team management, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills.
- Expertise in project and engineering management, risk management, and problem-solving.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, budget, and cost control skills.
- High ethical and safety standards, a high level of ownership, accountability, and integrity.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and demonstrate cross-cultural communication capability.
- Conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
Nice to Have
- A Master’s degree.
- An undergraduate or post graduate qualification in civil or infrastructure engineering.
- Professional ECSA registration is advantageous.
- Proven experience in process plant engineering and construction.
- Experience working in Africa or remote site environments is preferred.

You will report directly to the Sulphides Project Director, leading a multidisciplinary engineering team to deliver a critical mining project.
Work Mode
This is an onsite position based in Kolwezi, Lualaba Province, Democratic Republic of Congo.
