PCL Construction is hiring a Project Engineer within its Civil West division. In this role, you will be a vital contributor to project teams, handling subcontract administration, change management, document control, and coordinating with project managers and superintendents to ensure project performance.
What You'll Do
- Maintain contracts with select trade partners and administer subcontracts, including defining work scope and supervising progress.
- Participate in the change management process, pricing and assessing the impact of change orders before review.
- Maintain project document control, coordinating RFIs, shop drawings, submittals, and as-built drawings.
- Collaborate with the project team lead to supervise design and ensure timely responses to the submittal schedule.
- Review trade partners’ submittals for compliance with scope and design documentation.
- Coordinate with the project manager and superintendent to manage and report on project performance related to HSE, cost, schedule, and quality.
- Prepare and supervise progress claims and estimates.
- Coordinate inventory, track materials and equipment, and expedite material orders.
- Assist with site inspections to resolve constructability issues and review functionality, AHJ, and code compliance.
- Participate in overall project closeout, including document archival, warranty manuals, and warranty work.
What We're Looking For
- Demonstrated understanding of construction equipment, techniques, drawings, specifications, HSE, quality, and building materials.
- Ability to apply basic engineering and problem-solving principles to construction challenges.
- Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Flexibility and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and delegate simple tasks.
- Ability to build a comprehensive schedule.
- Ability to coordinate subcontracts and contract documents.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and internal operational systems, with a strong ability to embrace new technology.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Nice to Have
- 1–3 years of construction experience in an operational role.
- An associate’s or bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or equivalent experience.
