101 Truman Medical Center is hiring a Professional Coder II to ensure the accurate coding of professional services directly from medical record documentation. This is a fully remote position following the successful completion of an initial probation period.
What You'll Do
- Review, code, and assign correct ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes, procedure codes, and E/M level codes for professional services.
- Apply AMA/CMS coding guidelines across multiple physician specialties.
What We're Looking For
- Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Current AAPC or AHIMA Coding Certification (e.g., CPC, COC, CCS, Specialty Coding Credential) or RHIT, RHIA, CEDC.
- 2+ years of medical records coding using CPT/HCPCS & ICD-10 for multiple specialties.
- Knowledge of government and third-party reimbursement programs, including Medicare, Medicaid, and MC+.
- Proficiency in medical insurance billing, collection, and related medical information systems.
- Demonstrated high proficiency in Physician at Teaching Hospital (PATH) documentation guidelines.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and coding systems (CPT, ICD, HCPCS).
- Ability to maintain knowledge of Medicare rules, Local Carrier Determinations (LCD), and National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) edits.
- Proficiency with computer hardware, software systems, and devices.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with all staff levels.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to work both independently and in a group setting.
Nice to Have
- Bachelor's degree.
- Experience with medical records coding of CPT/HCPCS & ICD-10 in an academic teaching healthcare organization.

This position is fully remote following an initial probation period. The role is based out of our Kansas City, Missouri operations.
