Brenntag North America, Inc. is seeking a Production Team Leader to oversee daily production operations and drive continuous improvement. You will assist in managing departments, develop processes and training, set production schedules, and lead quality and safety initiatives.
What You'll Do
- Act as operations manager in his absence, performing all managerial functions.
- Assist production departments and assume direct supervision of one or more departments as needed.
- Develop process descriptions and subsequent training requirements.
- Set priorities and production schedules based on safety, customer needs, and operational challenges.
- Aggressively pursue efficiency improvements.
- Develop and implement operating procedures to improve safety and product quality.
- Develop redundancy through cross-training within production departments.
- Manage personnel and assign manpower to the greatest need.
- Assist in driving capital projects from inception to completion.
- Participate in quality/customer service meetings and drive assigned projects to completion.
- Lead or participate in 5 Why investigations, ensuring assignments are completed promptly.
- Participate in monthly safety meetings and inspections.
- Drive plant-wide participation in the safety KPI program.
- Emphasize housekeeping to improve safety.
- Monitor and coordinate the disposition of waste and nonconforming material.
- Manage and enforce production and safety standards.
- Review and approve plant invoices.
- Participate in customer and regulatory audits.
- Lead or participate in customer plant visits.
- Lead or assist the operations manager with plant-wide meetings.
- Train operations personnel and ensure maintenance of training records.
- Assist with interviewing and onboarding new employees.
- Coach, guide, and develop direct reports, holding them accountable for performance and safety.
- Mentor direct reports.
- Execute performance reviews.
- Discuss and support the pursuit of career progression.
- Advise on discipline administration and issue disciplinary warnings when necessary.
What We're Looking For
- College degree or equivalent experience.
- 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience.
- Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
- A driven, proactive individual who works well with minimal supervision.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Computer skills sufficient for job requirements (enterprise management software, Word, Excel, Outlook).
Nice to Have
- Supervisory experience in distribution and/or the chemical industry.
