Citi is looking for a Senior Production Engineer to take responsibility for the development and overall implementation of software within a critical, large cross-departmental area. This role is a key part of a multi-year transformation journey, requiring you to establish best practices and promote a cultural shift towards Engineering Principles in Production Management.
What You'll Do
- Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle and how it integrates within the overall technology landscape.
- Operate in a global environment with on-/near-/off-shore matrix reporting structures within a highly regulated industry.
- Improve the service level the team provides by maximizing operational efficiencies and strengthening incident, problem, and knowledge management practices.
- Drive Continuous Delivery and Automation efforts across supported applications via Root Cause Analysis, knowledge management, performance tuning, and user training.
- Foster a culture that promotes transparency and innovation for increased team productivity.
- Coach team members and others on best practices and recognize and address anti-patterns.
- Implement an Agile Framework (SCRUM or Kanban) and ensure it integrates with overall organization processes.
- Communicate progress and project status across the organization and manage stakeholders appropriately.
What We're Looking For
- Relevant experience in a critical software development role with high business impact.
- Excellent engineering skills and senior architecture knowledge.
- Excellent working knowledge of key computer science concepts (networking, operating systems, virtualization, containerization).
- Polyglot full-stack developer mentality and ability to pick up new languages and skills.
- Excellent understanding of Software Engineering concepts like Software Development Life Cycle and GitOps.
- Excellent debugging and analytical skills to isolate root cause across networking/infrastructure, application and database stacks.
- Experience of delivering software using Agile delivery methodologies (SCRUM/Kanban).
- Experience of senior stakeholder management.
- Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.
Nice to Have
- Operational experience of deploying and running services at scale on top of Docker/Kubernetes and a service mesh like Istio.
- Operational experience with orchestration tools for CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code tooling (Terraform, Cloud Formation).
- Operational experience of using middleware technologies (MQ, Apache Kafka) to run services at scale.
- Strong experience with end-to-end observability stacks (Datadog, AppDynamics, Dynatrace).
- A degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, or a related technical subject.
