Employment Hero is seeking a Product Owner - Canadian Payroll to join our Canadian Product Team. In this role, you will be hyper-focused on the payroll aspect of our product, guiding a payroll-focused squad through the development of complex features, defining scope, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality products that delight users.
What You'll Do
- Be responsible for product delivery, including backlog grooming, sprint planning, and cross-functional coordination.
- Define the scope of development for new product features and ongoing feature enhancements.
- Write and prioritize epics, user stories, and define acceptance criteria.
- Establish and maintain a high level of credibility with internal and external stakeholders.
- Leverage analytical ability to back decisions with data.
- Use data and analytics layered against high-quality user research to inform product direction.
- Be responsible for tracking progress, assessing risks, coordinating delivery, and actively communicating contingency and mitigation plans.
- Run various ad-hoc research and business analyses to assess opportunities and risks.
What We're Looking For
- 3-7 years of Product Management experience with a SaaS product.
- Experience working in fintech, payment, payroll, reporting, or analytics.
- Basic understanding of Canadian payroll and its regulatory environment.
- Understanding of how to build test cases and test APIs directly to ensure correctness.
- A strong understanding of APIs.
- Ability to create wireframes, prototypes, and user flows to articulate ideas to cross-functional teams.
- Detail-oriented with a high bar for quality when writing PRDs, user stories, reviewing designs, brainstorming technical approaches, and testing features.
- Be humble, willing to learn, and do whatever is needed to help team members accomplish team goals.
- Experience using agile development methodologies with globally distributed teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Financial and accounting math knowledge or a sophisticated understanding of the digital finance space.
- Ability to influence others through leadership and strong communication skills.
- Ability to keep up in a fast-paced and pivot in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to analyze data as well as conduct research through various discussions with customers and teammates.
- Completed Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
