Omilia is hiring a Product Localization NLU Developer

We are seeking a skilled Linguist to become part of our Product Localization team. You will collaborate with a dynamic software group that develops innovative localizations for our Conversational AI and Virtual Agent technologies, delivering advanced voice and chat-driven solutions to global enterprises. Your primary emphasis will be on NLU development for emerging languages, while participating comprehensively in the complete product localization process. As a team member, you will undergo training on Omilia's AI platform and acquire an in-depth comprehension of technologies enabling conversational, omni-channel human-system interactions. Responsibilities - Maintain and enhance existing Natural Language Understanding (NLU) rule-based and machine learning models across various language families (predominantly Scandinavian, Balto-Slavic, Romance, Germanic, and Turkic). - Collaborate closely with native speakers to: 1. Comprehend grammatical, syntactic, semantic, and phonetic nuances of languages; 2. Create NLU rule-based and machine learning models for new languages; 3. Develop and/or evaluate language-specific resources like textual corpora, phonetic dictionaries, golden test sets; 4. Offer linguistic insights for non-NLU components such as Automated Speech Recognition and Text-to-speech. - Support Quality Assurance team during test execution and evaluation. - Contribute to developing robust methodologies for generating language-specific assets. Requirements - Academic Degree in Computational Linguistics, Natural Language Processing, related discipline, or equivalent professional experience. - Specialized knowledge of linguistic data for Indo-European languages, emphasizing Scandinavian, Balto-Slavic, Romance, Germanic, and Turkic language groups. - Fundamental programming capabilities in JavaScript, Python, bash, or comparable languages used in Natural Language Processing tasks. - Robust analytical, problem-solving, and debugging competencies. - Exceptional written and spoken English proficiency, plus fluency in at least one additional language. Nice to have - Additional language proficiencies. - Understanding of Apache UIMA Ruta. - Experience with version control software tools. - Familiarity with NLU/NLP programming frameworks like NLT, spaCy, DeepL, SparkNLP.
