Responsibilities
- Lead the team in designing, developing, and improving chassis systems and accessories for the chassis group.
- Monitor project progress, address any deviations, and escalate issues to management when necessary.
- Create design documents for chassis and engine system components and final products.
- Develop new suspension lift and lowering kits for various vehicle platforms.
- Determine new chassis components needed for lift kits based on package studies and suspension travel.
- Design and develop exterior and chassis accessories to meet product requirements and business case inputs.
- Ensure knowledge of vehicle dynamics and FMVSS requirements for vehicle systems and integration.
- Maintain a good understanding of the APQP process with regular team follow-ups to ensure timely and quality launches.
- Prepare feasibility reviews, technical reviews, and process documents for review.
- Release source packages based on product requirements and business case inputs.
- Develop DVP requirements for service parts and accessory components and systems.
- Manage suppliers to complete component DVP testing and coordinate vehicle-level DVP testing.
- Understand 3D/2D tolerances and GD&T.
- Support suppliers in design and approval processes.
- Document all relevant engineering approvals and documents for projects.
- Gather historical data on regulatory documents and summarize lessons learned to define corrective actions for future product launches.
- Establish best practices to ensure a robust process and maintain product quality.
- Lead team validation trips and offsite validation activities.
- Assist in the selection and review of new suppliers.
- Review and approve all engineering deliverables as part of the phased PPAP process.
