Samsung Semiconductor is hiring a Senior Technical Resident Engineer, Automotive Display

About the Role

What You'll Do

Work directly within customer environments—either on-site or remotely—to lead technical integration of automotive display technologies into next-generation vehicles. You'll guide OEM and Tier-1 partners through critical development phases, including APQP and PPAP processes, design validation, and production readiness testing.

Diagnose and resolve complex hardware and software issues using automotive-grade diagnostic tools, both in lab settings and on prototype vehicles. Maintain clear communication with engineering teams and program managers, delivering regular updates on technical progress and roadblocks to keep development on track.

Ensure display modules are fully compatible with vehicle electrical systems, data networks, and mechanical constraints. Your role will be central in aligning internal capabilities with external requirements, adapting to diverse engineering cultures and workflows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field
  • Minimum of 5 years in automotive electronics or display technology development
  • Proven experience supporting OEM or Tier-1 customers in technical integration roles
  • Hands-on background with LCD and OLED display systems used in automotive applications
  • Familiarity with OEM development programs (e.g., GM, Ford, Stellantis)
  • Working knowledge of automotive quality and validation processes: APQP, PPAP, DV/PV
  • Strong understanding of vehicle electrical architecture and integration challenges
  • Experience in systems engineering or program management roles a plus
  • Excellent troubleshooting abilities and clear, inclusive communication skills

Benefits

This role is based in Detroit or Warren, MI, with opportunities for hybrid or remote work where project needs allow. Flexible arrangements support work-life balance, including accommodations tailored to individual needs. Your on-site presence will be key during critical integration phases, ensuring close collaboration with customer teams.

Company Culture

You’ll thrive here if you value inclusivity, adapt easily to different working styles, and approach problems with curiosity. We value collaboration over hierarchy, learning from data over assumptions, and creative problem solving in fast-moving environments. Team members are expected to engage humbly, support peers, and remain agile in the face of technical change.
