Lightspeed is hiring a Product Design Manager to lead our Payments and Capital teams within the Financial Services product design group. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering high-impact outcomes on complex projects, focusing on team performance, execution, and mentoring. Success means designing integrated, invisible, and instant financial services experiences.
What You'll Do
- Translate complex business objectives into clear, actionable solutions and proactively identify problems.
- Bring strategic thinking to execution and problem framing, guiding teams to solve abstract challenges end-to-end.
- Proactively explore and integrate AI and emerging technologies to shape new design approaches.
- Develop and communicate holistic design strategies grounded in quantitative and qualitative insights.
- Partner closely with product managers to lead problem definition and keep user needs central.
- Demonstrate deep expertise in design system principles, AI integration, and industry standards.
- Lead teams in defining foundational components and evolving the design system for quality and consistency.
- Provide mentorship and clear growth paths for each team member.
- Foster a high-performing, motivated team culture.
- Oversee project delivery, manage team workload and backlogs, and establish efficient processes.
- Build strong cross-functional relationships and hold a high bar for quality, accountability, and shared success.
- Contribute to wider organizational objectives as needed.
What We're Looking For
- 4+ years of industry experience in a people management role on a Design team.
- Foundational design-related education (e.g., Bachelor of Design, Visual Arts, Architecture, Industrial Design, or Communication).
- Acute self-awareness and deep empathy for the customer and team goals.
- Tenured, evolutionary perspective on technology, product, and design practices.
- Applied experience designing financial services and/or payments experiences in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong service design foundations and a mindset of optimizing the design process for efficacy.
- Appetite and skill for working across all digital and physical manifestations of designs.
- Passion for mentoring executives, product managers, and engineers to deliver user-centered solutions.
- Excellent communication and data visualization skills.
- Deep curiosity and ability to consider product strategy and vision.
- Experience with Agile design sprint methodologies, tools, and processes.
- Experience with the Jira platform.
- Fluency with product, design, and prototyping tools such as Figma, Google Suite, Miro, Lovable, and Cursor.
