About the Role

The Atlantic is looking for a Producer, Video Podcasts to join the team producing a new weekly podcast hosted by David Brooks. This short-term role involves supporting host research, managing bookings, and contributing to show prep and recording logistics.

What You'll Do

  • Work with the host and editor to maintain editorial excellence
  • Partner with the senior producer on end-to-end production, from pre- to post-production
  • Book guests and research guests and topics
  • Cut episodes and handle all audio uploading to video and audio platforms
  • Collaborate with teams across The Atlantic, including legal, art, audience, copy desk, story editors, and fact-checkers
  • Assist with booking recording sessions and ensuring proper setup of lighting, audio, and camera equipment
  • Edit and enhance video content, adding graphics, transitions, and other elements
  • Ensure consistency in visual and audio quality across all episodes
  • Collaborate with the audience team to create promotional video clips for social media
  • This role will at times include night, early-morning, and weekend work.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience in video production and editing
  • Proficiency in taping and editing software, such as Riverside, Adobe Premiere Pro, or Final Cut Pro
  • Strong understanding of lighting, audio, and camera operation for high-quality video
  • Experience with remote recording workflows
  • Outstanding editorial judgment and strong communication and collaboration skills
  • A demonstrated track record of producing high-quality work on ambitious deadlines
  • Familiarity with YouTube and podcast distribution platforms

Nice to Have

  • Motion graphics and animation experience
  • Experience preferably in podcasting and journalism

  • Riverside
  • Adobe Premiere Pro
  • Final Cut Pro

Team & Environment

You will report to the senior editor of the show and work closely with the show’s host, senior producer, and engineer.

Benefits & Compensation

  • Compensation: $85,000-$100,000

This is an onsite position located in Washington D.C.
