The Atlantic is looking for a Producer, Video Podcasts to join the team producing a new weekly podcast hosted by David Brooks. This short-term role involves supporting host research, managing bookings, and contributing to show prep and recording logistics.
What You'll Do
- Work with the host and editor to maintain editorial excellence
- Partner with the senior producer on end-to-end production, from pre- to post-production
- Book guests and research guests and topics
- Cut episodes and handle all audio uploading to video and audio platforms
- Collaborate with teams across The Atlantic, including legal, art, audience, copy desk, story editors, and fact-checkers
- Assist with booking recording sessions and ensuring proper setup of lighting, audio, and camera equipment
- Edit and enhance video content, adding graphics, transitions, and other elements
- Ensure consistency in visual and audio quality across all episodes
- Collaborate with the audience team to create promotional video clips for social media
- This role will at times include night, early-morning, and weekend work.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience in video production and editing
- Proficiency in taping and editing software, such as Riverside, Adobe Premiere Pro, or Final Cut Pro
- Strong understanding of lighting, audio, and camera operation for high-quality video
- Experience with remote recording workflows
- Outstanding editorial judgment and strong communication and collaboration skills
- A demonstrated track record of producing high-quality work on ambitious deadlines
- Familiarity with YouTube and podcast distribution platforms
Nice to Have
- Motion graphics and animation experience
- Experience preferably in podcasting and journalism

Team & Environment
You will report to the senior editor of the show and work closely with the show’s host, senior producer, and engineer.
Benefits & Compensation
- Compensation: $85,000-$100,000

This is an onsite position located in Washington D.C.
