The City of Missouri City, TX is hiring a Producer III to coordinate television and audiovisual production for the City's government access channel (MCTV), website, and social media platforms. You will build, promote, and maintain a positive image for the City through effective public relations, media coverage, and storytelling. This role reports directly to the Senior Producer/Communications Manager.
What You'll Do
- Plan, create, script, coordinate, produce, direct, and edit videos for various City outlets.
- Plan and facilitate studio and field-based video production, coordinating pre-production and interacting with clients; transport, set up, and operate video and audio equipment.
- Perform video post-production tasks including reviewing footage, making editorial decisions, audio adjustment, color correction, and final editing; create motion graphics and special effects; compress video projects for output.
- Perform occasional on-camera and voice-over work for City productions.
- Meet with City staff to assure coverage of pertinent events and activities; assist in producing and writing promotional spots, packages, and features for City services.
- Work with City departments upon request to produce educational, training, and safety videos.
- Perform technical and creative responsibilities including format design, scriptwriting, editing, storyboard preparation, lighting, set design, camera operation, and special effects creation.
- Utilize software suite equipment.
- Operate live broadcast equipment for City Council, work sessions, and other live events, including control room operation of cameras and switching equipment; use motion and still graphic software to support productions.
- Promote and assist with maintaining video presence on the City's website and other social media outlets.
- Perform scheduling duties for automated playback of produced segments and broadcasts.
- Ensure all established policies and procedures related to the government access channel are followed.
- Maintain guidelines and forms for graphic and video requests.
- Provide audio/visual support to staff for internal and external purposes.
- Prepare and submit budget requests; recommend equipment purchases and replacements.
- Attend various City events to capture photo and/or video.
- Subject to 24-hour recall.
What We're Looking For
- Five years of increasingly responsible experience in professional studio and field-based video production, including scripting and management procedures.
- Proficiency in non-linear editing using Adobe Creative Suite.
- Equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in media production, communications, television broadcasting, film, journalism, advertising, public relations, or a closely related field.
- Knowledge of posting video to social media outlets and cable television operations and programming.
- Knowledge of proper English usage, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary.
- Knowledge of City organization, operations, policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of copyright and public information requirements, laws and regulations.
- Knowledge of principles and techniques of customer service.
- Knowledge of planning and reviewing the work of others.
- Ability to operate a variety of TV equipment, including camera and editing systems and related equipment.
- Ability to manage complex video projects effectively and efficiently.
- Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, tactfully and effectively, orally and in writing.
- Ability to give, understand, and carry out a variety of detailed oral and written instructions.
