The Hague, South Holland, Netherlands Hybrid Full-time

Robin Radar is hiring a Principal Radar Systems Expert (Signal/RF/Embedded)

About the Role

What You'll Do

Drive the architecture and refinement of advanced FMCW radar systems with a focus on maximizing signal integrity and detection accuracy in cluttered environments. You'll take ownership of real-time signal processing pipelines, crafting optimized implementations in VHDL and C++ that run efficiently on embedded platforms.

Develop and deploy cutting-edge radar algorithms that exceed current industry benchmarks, ensuring the system maintains a technological edge. Define critical RF parameters and work closely with hardware teams to ensure the software stack fully exploits the capabilities of the physical layer.

Integrate robustness features inspired by defense-grade systems into commercial applications, especially in contested or noisy RF conditions. Challenge existing design paradigms and legacy constraints to elevate system performance. Explore the application of AI and machine learning within the signal chain to improve automated target recognition and threat assessment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years in high-level radar or defense technology development.
  • Deep mastery in at least two areas: Signal Processing, RF Hardware, VHDL/Embedded C++, or Radar Algorithm Design.
  • Proven background in complex radar or electronic warfare systems.
  • Comfort operating within strict technical standards while questioning inefficiencies and outdated practices.
  • Self-starter with a hands-on approach, capable of working independently to resolve deep technical challenges.
  • Eligible for Defense security clearance.
  • Fluent English speaker, able to engage in rigorous technical discussion and contribute to academic discourse.

Benefits

  • A culture where technical impact outweighs procedural inertia, at a certified Great Place to Work®.
  • Relocation assistance for international candidates moving to the Netherlands.
  • Collaborate with a diverse, global team of engineers from over 30 countries.
  • Friday social events to celebrate technical milestones in a high-energy environment.
  • Full suite of work equipment: laptop, monitor, noise-canceling headphones, and more.
  • Hybrid work model with strong remote flexibility.
