Colac Area Health is seeking a Principal Legal Adviser for a critical two-year fixed-term role. As the lead cyber security and technology lawyer in the Corporate Legal Team, you will provide vital advice on the Victorian Government’s Cyber Defence Centre and the emerging use of generative artificial intelligence. This position offers a unique opportunity to have a significant impact on modernising government services and enhancing community outcomes.
What You'll Do
- Advise on legal matters related to the Victorian Government’s Cyber Defence Centre and the emerging use of generative artificial intelligence.
- Support and manage complex ICT commercial matters, including negotiation and finalisation of ICT contracts.
- Contribute to shaping the Victorian Government’s digital resilience, preparedness and response to cyber security risks.
What We're Looking For
- Admitted to practice as an Australian lawyer and eligible to hold a Victorian practising certificate.
- Significant experience providing technically excellent legal advice on complex ICT projects, ICT procurements, cyber security and data breaches.
- Significant experience in State or Federal privacy, cyber and critical infrastructure legislation.
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent relationship management and negotiation skills coupled with a commitment to service excellence.
- Relevant rights to work in Australia.
Team & Environment
This role is part of the Office of the General Counsel (OGC), which sits within DGS’s Organisational Strategy, Governance and Performance Group. OGC comprises four teams: Corporate Legal, Legislation & Policy, Public Law, Disputes, and Consumer Affairs Victoria Legal.
