Jobgether is hiring a Principal Engineer, Software Development to act as a technical leader and force multiplier for our engineering team. In this remote UK role, you will dive deep into complex codebases, stabilize systems, and drive AI adoption to enhance product reliability and customer experience.
What You'll Do
- Analyze and refactor large, complex codebases to improve stability, maintainability, and performance.
- Design, prototype, and implement AI-driven automation systems for anomaly detection, predictive maintenance, and intelligent triage.
- Define and execute a comprehensive observability and instrumentation strategy using tools like Grafana, establishing SLOs/SLIs and improving MTTR.
- Decompose complex problems, set technical visions, document architectural decisions, and communicate strategies effectively.
- Mentor and guide senior and mid-level engineers on best practices, sustainable development, and AI applications.
- Collaborate with Product Management and Architecture to align technical solutions with business outcomes.
- Influence technical strategy and innovation while providing thought leadership within the engineering organization.
What We're Looking For
- 7+ years of experience in software engineering, with deep hands-on experience in stabilizing and refactoring large legacy codebases.
- Proven ability to design and implement AI-enabled solutions in practical, production-ready systems.
- Strong experience with observability and monitoring tools, such as Datadog, New Relic, or Grafana.
- Track record of self-directed technical leadership, problem-solving, and mentoring other engineers.
- Proficiency in modern development practices, architecture design, and delivering measurable business impact.
Nice to Have
- Expertise in PHP is preferred, though experience in Java, C#, or .NET is transferable.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and experience with relevant technology stacks is a plus.
- Experience within WordPress ecosystem is desirable but not mandatory.
